Ghanaian gospel veteran Bernice Offei has reportedly passed away at the age of 63. News of her demise began circulating on social media on September 12, 2026.
The singer, who was also a songwriter, had been reported missing on September 1, 2026, after last being seen around Nyaho‑Tamakloe Street in Agbogba, Accra. She was later found safe.
Details surrounding the circumstances of her death have not yet been made public.

Bernice Offei formally entered the gospel scene in 1991 while also working as a professional banker, before eventually moving into music full‑time. She went on to release a body of work marked by clear, reflective and timeless song writing.
Tracks such as “Life Is So Short” and “Hold On” became fixtures in churches and homes across the country, while other songs including “Kaa She Gbeyei” and “Odo A Wodo Mi Nti” earned her recognition as one of Ghanaian gospel’s most respected voices. Over the course of her career, she released six albums.
Bernice Offei is survived by her husband, Prof. Samuel Kwame Offei, and their two children.
