The 78th Emmy Awards were held on 14 September 2026 at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles to honour the best in television and streaming from the past year.
The medical drama “The Pitt” emerged as one of the night’s biggest winners, taking Best Drama Series along with Lead Actor for Noah Wyle, while “Widow’s Bay” claimed Best Comedy Series and helped Matthew Rhys secure the Lead Actor in a Comedy Series award.
Other major victories included Rhea Seehorn for Lead Actress in a Drama Series for “Pluribus”, Jean Smart for Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for “Hacks”, “DTF St Louis” for Best Limited or Anthology Series, and “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” claiming two Emmy awards on the night.

The Emmy Awards also recognised Michael J. Fox with the Bob Hope Humanitarian Award for his long-standing work in Parkinson’s research and advocacy.
In its In Memoriam segment, the show paid tribute to Dolly Parton, Catherine O’Hara, Rob Reiner, who had posthumously won an Emmy the previous week for his guest role in “The Bear,” and other figures from the television industry.
