Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo has withdrawn from the Black Stars squad ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying matches against Côte d’Ivoire and Gambia.
Reports indicate he requested to be left out of the 24-man squad list for the September/October international break to recover fully from a persistent ankle injury.
Antoine Semenyo, who also features for Manchester City, carried his strong World Cup form into the Premier League season. He has made five league appearances, scoring twice and providing three assists, and has also appeared in the UEFA Champions League and the FA Community Shield.

Semenyo is not the only absentee. Mohammed Kudus, Abdul Rahman Baba, Alidu Seidu, Prince Kwabena Adu, Thomas Partey, and Nathaniel Adjei have all pulled out due to injuries, leaving Ghana without several established names.
To reinforce squad depth, the technical team has called up Brandon Thomas-Asante, Benjamin Tetteh, Felix Afena-Gyan and Jonas Adjetey, while Rockson Yeboah and Rahim Ibrahim have received their first invitations to the senior national team.
