MrBeast, GMAD Build Surgical Facilities in Ghana, Aiding Rescued Child Slaves

YouTube philanthropist MrBeast (Jimmy Donaldson) has teamed up with GMAD (Ghana Make A Difference) to build a new surgical facility in Ghana, aiming to provide critical medical care to children rescued from slavery.

The collaboration, highlighted in a new video on MrBeast’s Philanthropy channel, documents the construction and launch of a state-of-the-art surgical center. The facility will serve children rescued from areas plagued by child trafficking and forced labor in the fishing industry. Many of these children suffer from untreated injuries and infections due to years of neglect and abuse.

GMAD, a non-profit that has worked for over a decade to rescue and rehabilitate trafficked children, partnered with MrBeast to scale its impact. The facility, completed in October 2024, and now operational, allows for surgeries and post-operative care to be provided directly at GMAD’s shelter, reducing the time, cost, and risk involved in transporting children to distant hospitals.

“This partnership with MrBeast’s Beast Philanthropy has been a game-changer. With this surgical center, we are tackling one of the biggest challenges families face—access to surgical care,” said Austin Johnson, GMAD’s executive director.

In typical MrBeast style, the video pulls no punches. It’s emotional and direct and gives viewers a clear picture of the harsh reality these children face and the life-changing power of real action. It’s not just content—it’s infrastructure.

side note:
I don’t think this is another feel-good YouTube moment. It’s a paradigm shift in how content creators can use their platforms.

MrBeast’s model—blending viral storytelling with targeted humanitarian work.

And while critics sometimes question the ethics of turning suffering into content, the results speak loudly. Children who were once enslaved are now free, recovering, and getting care they would have never received otherwise.

Of course, MrBeast’s involvement doesn’t replace systemic change, but it does buy time—and hope—for people who don’t have the luxury of waiting for the world to catch up.
