A new poll by Global Info Analytics indicates that a month after Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo was suspended, 53% of Ghanaians support that suspension.
The poll also shows that the majority of voters in all the regions except the North East and Northern regions support the suspension, Global Info Analytics said on Tuesday.
“While majority of NDC, floating voters, other parties and non-disclosed party affiliates support the suspension, majority of NPP voters oppose it,” the research firm said.
The NPP, earlier this month, held a protest asking President Mahama to withdraw Justice Torkornoo’s suspension.

“The judiciary is our last hope, and we believe that what is happening undermines our democracy. For the Chief Justice to be singled out for this unfortunate attack, a flimsy pedestrian petition,” Minority leader, Alexander Afenyo Markin said when they presented a petition to the Presidency during their protest on May 5.
This new poll, meanwhile, comes on the back of a previous poll conducted last month by Global Info Analytics, where it said 52% of Ghanaians supported the removal of Justice Gertrude Torkornoo.
The firm said it sampled votes from 2558 persons across Ghana’s 16 regions.
