Guinness Ghana Introduces GH¢100,000 Cash Prize for TGMA Album/EP of the Year Winner

Guinness Ghana has announced a significant boost to the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) with the introduction of a GH¢100,000 cash prize for the winner of the Album/EP of the Year category.

The brewing company, a long-time partner of the awards show, made the announcement in an official statement released on Wednesday, April 15, 2026. According to the statement, the winning artist will receive the cash prize along with additional support, including funding for a music video for their next project and a specially designed listening experience aimed at increasing audience engagement, industry networking, and visibility for future releases.

The nominees for the 2026 Album/EP of the Year include Black Sherif with Iron Boy, Stonebwoy, Gyakie with After Midnight, Medikal with Disturbation II, Wendy Shay with Ready, and Kweku Smoke with Walk With Me.

Head of Media and Partnerships at Guinness Ghana, Yaa Amoah-Owusu, described the move as a strategic investment in Ghanaian music and explained the importance of the category.

“The Album/EP of the Year category represents the pinnacle of artistic expression, body of work, storytelling, and sonic identity,” she said. “This package is Guinness Ghana’s way of recognising excellence and investing in the future of the artist and the industry at large.”

Robert Klah, Head of Public Events and Communications at Charterhouse Productions, the organisers of the TGMA, welcomed the new sponsorship initiative.

“This is an important intervention from Guinness Ghana,” Klah said. “It aligns with our commitment to celebrate and elevate Ghanaian music, while also creating tangible support for artistes. It sends a strong signal about the value of albums and EPs as lasting creative works.”

The enhanced prize package arrives as full-length albums and EPs are regaining popularity in the Ghanaian music scene. Industry observers believe the initiative could encourage artists to dedicate more time and resources to creating complete projects rather than focusing exclusively on singles.

Guinness Ghana’s contribution further strengthens its long-standing partnership with the Telecel Ghana Music Awards and underscores the company’s ongoing commitment to supporting the country’s creative industries.
