Spotify has announced a new concert ticketing feature called “Reserved”, designed to give dedicated listeners priority access to live shows.
The announcement was made during the streaming giant’s Investor Day, alongside the reveal of a major licensing agreement with Universal Music Group that will allow fan-made covers and remixes on the platform.
The “Reserved” feature seeks to fundamentally change how concert tickets are distributed. It automatically reserves two tickets for the most engaged fans of an artist by analysing their personalised listening history, streaming frequency, playlist engagement, and overall activity on the platform. These top fans will receive an exclusive early purchasing window before tickets are made available to the general public.

Top fans who qualify will receive an exclusive window to purchase tickets before they are released to the general public. According to Spotify, the initiative is intended to reduce chaotic ticket scrambles and limit the influence of scalpers, ensuring that genuine supporters, particularly those in the highest listening percentiles, get a fair chance at attending concerts rather than losing out to bots and resellers.
The “Reserved” feature will initially launch for Premium users in the United States. Spotify indicated that plans for a broader global rollout will be announced in the coming months, with expectations that more artists and regions will be included over time.
