Nicki Minaj has spoken candidly about the spiritual battles she faced in the music industry and claims that powerful figures worked to sabotage her career.

Following a period of relative silence after posting pointed tweets earlier this year accusing Jay-Z and other industry gatekeepers of blocking her progress, the rapper appeared on The Bryce Crawford Podcast. During the conversation, she reflected on the challenges throughout her career.

“It was constant spiritual warfare,” Minaj said. “I wish I had known sooner that this music industry was such a spiritual experience because I felt like I brought a knife to a gunfight without having that information.”

Nicki Minaj described how some influential executives treat artists as cash cows and target those who refuse to follow unwritten rules and expectations set by those in power.

When host Evangelist Bryce Crawford asked whether these individuals were connected to Illuminati conspiracy theories and asked for proof of their existence, the “Bed of Lies” rapper responded cautiously.

“I don’t know what they are. I always looked at it like it was a personal issue that one person didn’t really like me, and they happened to be in a powerful position. They were able to use their influence to make people go against me because they couldn’t get certain money with me.” She said. “I never looked at it as if it was like an entire secret society against me. But who knows? It could be. But it definitely has been spiritual.”

Nicki Minaj also admitted she would rewrite many of her old lyrics if given the chance. She acknowledged that in much of her music she glorified money, status, and material things over more meaningful values, which she said had a bad influence on kids listening.

“A lot of the music culture she helped shape wasn’t exactly leading people toward God but rather money, status, and material things. My first ever solo song on Billboard was ‘Your Love.’  To this day I like the video but I hate the song. I could go on and on. I’m like why did I do that?”

While Nicki Minaj views much of the opposition she encountered as personal rather than part of a grand conspiracy, she maintained that the challenges carried a strong spiritual dimension.
