DCOP Lydia Yaako Donkor Appointed CID Boss

Beyond her policing duties, DCOP Donkor has been actively involved in sports administration. She serves as the Chairperson for the Police Ladies Football Club and, in February 2024, was appointed as the Chairperson of the Security Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno has made a significant reshuffle within the Ghana Police Service with Deputy Commissioner of Police, (DCOP) Lydia Yaako Donkor assuming the position of CID boss.

The newly appointed Inspector-General of Police (IGP) announced on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, as part of efforts to ensure effective management and operational control within the service.

DCOP Donkor brings to her new role a wealth of experience in law enforcement and legal affairs. Prior to this appointment, she served as the Director-General of the Police Professional Standards Bureau (PPSB), where played a role in upholding ethical standards and professionalism within the police force.

The new CID boss has a Master of Law degree from the University of Leeds and a qualifying degree from the Ghana School of Law.

Beyond her policing duties, DCOP Donkor has also been actively involved in sports administration. She serves as the Chairperson for the Police Ladies Football Club and, in February 2024, was appointed as the Chairperson of the Security Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

Her appointment to lead the CID is part of a broader restructuring initiative by IGP Yohuno, which also includes new leadership for the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) and other key positions within the police management service.
