The visuals for the annual Hennessy Rap Cypher, which gathers rap talents from around the world to showcase their rhymes and rap capabilities, have been released.
This year’s cypher takes a different direction, shifting from strictly African themes to its first-ever global cypher. The cypher features groovy Amapiano/Afrobeat background instrumentation instead of the traditional hard-core rap beat.
This new direction gathered talented artists from around the world, including Kabza De Small (South Africa), Ms. Banks (United Kingdom), Joey B (Ghana), Femi One (Kenya), Blaqbonez (Nigeria), and Jaivah (Tanzania), who were chosen by the popular cognac brand to showcase their music talents.

In 2024, it was the landlord himself, Sarkodie, standing at the front lines for Ghana at the Cypher. This year’s edition sees Joey B taking the baton and running the show with his flows. Following Blaqbonez’s verse, Joey B steps up with a refreshing flow and well-knitted rhyme schemes, solidifying Ghana’s place in the discourse on “African countries with elite rappers.”
Joey B’s timing and ability to adjust to the log drum synths were incredibly surgical and precise. You couldn’t help but feel an overwhelming sense of pride as a Ghanaian rap fan after watching Joey B’s masterclass in flow.
