Coming off a dominant 2025 fuelled by his sophomore album “Iron Boy,” Black Sherif has once again been named Artiste of the Year at the 27th Telecel Ghana Music Award, held on Saturday, May 9 at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre.
Prior to his award, Black Sherif delivered a commanding live performance, thrilling the crowd with energetic renditions of hits including “Sacrifice,” “Top of the Morning,” and “Popstar.” By the end of the night, the 24 year old artiste walked away with five awards, the highest tally of the evening.
Black Sherif beat strong contenders such as Medikal, Wendy Shay, Diana Hamilton, Stonebwoy, and Sarkodie to claim the night’s biggest prize for the second time in his career. In addition to Artiste of the Year, he also won Album of the Year (Iron Boy), Songwriter of the Year, Best Hip Hop Song, and Best Afropop Song.

In a humble acceptance speech, Black Sherif made a generous gesture, requesting that the GH¢100,000 Guinness cash prize for Album of the Year be given to his colleague AratheJay, while the listening experience session should go to GonaBoy.
This recognition comes as no surprise. Black Sherif has solidified his position as Ghana’s most-streamed artiste for the third consecutive year on both Spotify and Apple Music. His “Iron Boy” album has been one of the most dominant projects by any Ghanaian artist in recent memory. He currently boasts over 2.6 million monthly listeners on Spotify and has consistently occupied between 7 to 9 spots in the Top 10 streamed songs in Ghana across both platforms throughout 2025.
The album also peaked at Number 10 on the Billboard World Albums chart, further cementing Black Sherif’s growing global appeal. In addition, he has surpassed 100 million streams on Boomplay and currently boasts over 1.11 billion plays on Audiomack, where he commands 3.01 million monthly listeners and 5.83 million followers.
At just 24, Black Sherif is proving he’s not a one-hit wonder. The Ghanaian star clinched Artist of the Year for the second time, further solidifying his position at the forefront of West Africa’s new generation of global talent.
