Suno Launches ‘Spark’ to Support Independent Artistes with Grants and Mentorship

Artificial intelligence music platform Suno announced the launch of Spark, a new incubator program aimed at helping unsigned artistes musicians trying to turn bedroom demos into real releases.

Artificial intelligence music platform Suno announced the launch of Spark, a new incubator program aimed at helping unsigned artistes trying to turn bedroom demos into real releases.

The program will provide selected participants with financial grants, personalized mentorship, marketing support, and additional resources to help them develop projects, reach audiences, and grow both on and beyond the Suno platform.

“Making it as an independent artiste isn’t easy,” said Suno Chief Music Officer Paul Sinclair and Head of Creator Economy Rosie Nguyen in a joint statement. “We meet creators every day with strong vision but no resources or connections to take the next step. Spark is our attempt to change that by helping artists develop their craft and sustain a career with AI as a tool, not a replacement.”

Suno described the initiative as a way to bridge the gap between raw talent and professional success.

To apply for the Spark program, artistes must be at least 18 years old, release music under their own name as a singer, songwriter, or producer, and be an independent act.

The announcement comes as Suno continues efforts to reposition itself as a partner to the music industry amid ongoing debates over AI-generated music. The company reached a settlement and partnership agreement with Warner Music Group last year. However, it remains embroiled in copyright infringement lawsuits with Universal Music Group and Sony Music Entertainment.

Critics, including several major artistes, have accused Suno of training its models on copyrighted material without permission. Singer SZA, recently voiced strong objections on social media regarding the alleged use of her songs in AI training data.

Despite the pushback, Suno says initiatives like Spark demonstrate its commitment to empowering human creators rather than replacing them.
