Parables Animation Studios, in collaboration with the Manhyia Palace Museum, has unveiled a four-minute first look at its  upcoming animated feature film, “Opemsuo Osei Tutu I: Birth of an Empire.”

The exclusive screening took place at the Manhyia Palace Museum during the second edition of the Asantehene Arts Award. The film dramatizes the rise of Asante King Osei Tutu I, who unified the fragmented Akan states into one of West Africa’s most powerful empires. It is rendered in Parables’ distinctive animation style and told through a proudly Ghanaian narrative lens.

Distinguished guests included Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, traditional leaders, senior government officials from the creative arts sector, and Parables Animation Studios Director, Cyril Aban.

Cyril Aban, who founded the studio, described the film as far more than entertainment.

“This is a story told by us, for the world,” he said.

Director of the Manhyia Palace Museum, Mr Ivor Agyeman-Duah, welcomed the collaboration.

“We are excited about this film and the partnership behind it. It’s about ensuring that Africa’s rich history and culture are preserved for the next generation. And this isn’t just for children, but for all of us.”
